thank you note for every language
Dear Bilingual Educator,

I’d like to extend a huge thank you for everything that you do to make this world a better place for multilingual and multicultural children. It’s definitely not an easy job, but each and every one of you is touching and influencing the lives of countless children on an everyday basis.

I know that sometimes being a bilingual educator seems like an isolating job. Most of you have more than likely experienced some sort of alienation or isolation from other teachers. Many of you have probably experienced limited materials in languages other than English. Some of you have even lost your bilingual programs over the years. Far too many of you are forced to try to cultivate bilingualism and biliteracy within the constraints of an English-only accountability system. And if you haven’t experienced any of the trials and tribulations of being a bilingual educator, then you are lucky, indeed.

On the days that you feel alone, or as if you have no one else around who thinks like you, rest assured that there are many of us out in the world cheering you on.

I hope that many of you grow to embrace leadership positions so that future bilingual educators have future administrators who value and appreciate diversity and multilingualism. I hope that you refine your craft on an everyday basis so that the nation has many models of effective bilingual programs. May you find and keep your voice to advocate for bilingual education and shatter the myths that surround our profession.

You are my heroes.

In Appreciation,

Multilingual Mania
